Have you heard orange cats are prone to diabetes?

We took Murphy to the vet last week because he had been throwing up a lot. The vet said, among other things, that he should lose some weight because orange cats are prone to diabetes. I just looked around on the Internet and can't find any reference to that. Have you ever heard orange cats are prone to diabetes? (Fortunately, he also stopped throwing up.)

On the weight front, his weight last week was 16.3 pounds, which compares to a weight 2 years ago of 16.4. So he's not gaining weight; he's just a big boy to start with.
