How long on crutches after a broken foot

I broke my Phalange bone (ouside of foot) in my right foot almost 4 weeks ago. Emergecy Room Dr said I could consult Orthopedist if I needed to but have been fine using a "wooden shoe" crutches and a knee walker at work - how long before I can just start walking using the wooden shoe only and then when can I start using regular shoes..Have been testing at home and my foot doesn't hurt, but don' want to overdo...also am female and 65 years with no sign of osteoporosis(sp?)
